On 22 September 2026, we held the YOU BELONG online FEMP Workshop, bringing together participants for an open and honest conversation about women, confidence and belonging in male-dominated fields. The workshop focused on dismantling rigid stereotypes surrounding who a “real” scientist or expert is. Through honest and relatable stories about overcoming setbacks, handling self-doubt and maintaining a balanced life outside of research, the session explored practical ways to navigate imposter syndrome and build confidence. While computer science and STEM provided the backdrop, the core message was universal: you belong exactly as you are. The session featured inspiring contributions from Aleksandra Kulbaka (Medical AI PhD) and Panagiota Polykarpou (Girls in STEAM Academy), who shared their experiences, perspectives and practical tools for building confidence and resilience.
