This focus group brought together four women entrepreneurs based in Malta, spanning tech, counselling, social enterprise, and retail, to explore the realities, challenges, and support gaps facing women founders on the island. Key themes included the advantages and limits of Malta’s small, connected market, gaps in funding and mentoring (including the lack of a dedicated Women Angels investment network), the financial toll of the “pension gap” faced by mothers who step back from paid work, and the need for stronger corporate support and storytelling to help women see entrepreneurship as within reach. The findings will help shape FEMP’s next stages, including practical learning resources, mentoring design, and cross-island networking.
